Uterine artery embolisation (UAE)
A radiologist can insert a wire into your blood vessels and block the uterine arteries, thereby starving your womb of blood as well as the fibroids which die and shrink, but are not removed. This procedure has risks that are similar to having a hysterectomy and is not routinely recommended where a woman wishes to retain her fertility.
